They Were Nervous Too—Now They’re Raving About Their Results.
-
What makes your PMU removal process different from other places?Safety is just as important as results. Many technicians rush post-treatment care, but I take the time to properly remove heat using an industrial-quality ice roller. This ensures a smoother recovery, which is why I allow 60-minute appointments, even if the treatment only takes 30-45 minutes.
-
What kind of laser technology do you use?FDA approved Q-Swithed 532/1064 NM frequency doubled Nd:YAG solid-state laser
-
Do I need to do anything before my session?A makeup-free area is preferred, but if necessary, I will gladly remove it before treatment. However, avoiding sun exposure and ensuring the skin is free of tan or sunburn is required for the procedure.
-
How many sessions will I need? Results vary depending on several factors. However, all clients will notice a significant difference after their first treatment. The majority achieve their desired outcome within two sessions, while some may require a third. In rare cases, a fourth session may be necessary.
-
How long does a session take? The initial appointment lasts approximately 30-45 minutes, primarily for completing new client forms and reviewing the procedure discussed during the consultation. The laser treatment itself takes only a few minutes per brow. If additional sessions are needed, they typically last about 15 minutes, with most of the time dedicated to icing the area to ensure all heat is removed, minimizing inflammation and swelling.
-
Have you worked with my specific skin type or PMU pigment before?I have experience with treating all skin types and specialize in removal of permanent makeup. Although I do treat traditional tattoos as well, the majority of my clients are referrals from permanent makeup artists throughout the valley.
-
Can I get new PMU done after laser removal? How long should I wait? Most clients plan to have new brow pigment applied by their permanent makeup artist. To ensure optimal results, they must wait at least six weeks after their final laser treatment. This allows time for the body to fully flush out residual pigment particles broken down by the laser.
-
What should I do for aftercare to ensure the best results?Removing heat from the treated area is essential for proper healing. Most of the heat is reduced immediately after treatment, but some may return, similar to a steam burn. To prevent inflammation and swelling, I provide an ice pack for continued cooling at home. Minimizing swelling also reduces the risk of blisters. The day after treatment, you may experience tightness and itchiness. Applying aloe or an unscented lotion can help soothe the area.
-
Will laser removal damage my skin or natural brow hairs? To prevent skin damage, I perform a small test spot before the procedure to ensure the laser settings are customized for your skin type. The laser targets pigment, not hair follicles, so your natural brow hair is completely safe. However, clients with dark hair may notice temporary lightening as the laser pulls pigment from the follicle. This is not permanent, color will return within a few weeks, or clients can use a brow pencil or dye in the meantime.
-
How long does it take for the area to heal after a session?Downtime is minimal, typically lasting only a couple of days. On the first day, the area may be tender and require icing. By the second day, you may experience tightness, which can be relieved with aloe or unscented lotion. After that, the body’s lymphatic system naturally flushes out the broken pigment particles over the next 4-6 weeks. This is why sessions are spaced accordingly.
